
Richard Louv, New York, USA, 1949. Journalist and author of nine books, many of them translated into 13 languages and published in 17 countries. He is co-founder and president emeritus of the Children & Nature Network, an organization that helps build an international movement to connect people and communities with the natural world. With artist Robert Bateman, he is co-chair of the Child in Nature Alliance of Canada. In 2010, he gave the plenary address at the national conference of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and in 2012 he was the keynote speaker at the first White House Summit on Environmental Education. He has been a visiting professor at Clemson University and the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. He serves on the editorial board of Ecopsychology journal, on the board of directors of ecoAmerica, the Citistates Group, and is a founding partner with C&NN, ecoAmerica, and the Nature Conservancy of Nature Rocks.
Among other awards, Louv has received the 2008 Audubon Medal, the 2008 San Diego Zoological Society Conservation Medal, the 2008 George B. Rabb Conservation Medal from the Chicago Zoological Society, the 2009 Jane Jacobs International Award for Making Cities More Livable, and the 2007 Cox Award, Clemson University's highest honor, for "sustained achievement in public service."
