Balam Rodrigo. Born in Villa de Comaltitlán, Chiapas, on October 11, 1974, he is a writer of poetry, essays, chronicles, and science popularization. Since 2005, he has given lectures, courses, and poetry workshops for children, young people, and adults in twenty-eight states across the country, as well as at universities and institutions in Argentina (National University of La Plata), the United States (The University of Texas at Arlington; San José State University; University of California, Berkeley; University of California, Davis; Georgetown University; The University of Maryland; University of Texas at El Paso; Hofstra University; Hunter College), Colombia (EAFIT University; University of Antioquia; Externado University of Colombia), Guatemala (University of San Carlos; Rafael Landívar University); El Salvador (José Simeón Cañas Central American University); Honduras (National Autonomous University of Honduras), and Puerto Rico (University of Puerto Rico). He holds a degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM. He holds a Master's degree in Biological Sciences and a diploma in Pastoral Theology. He has taught bioethics, religions, and traditions of death in Mexico at healthcare institutions. He has contributed to various publications, including articles on popular science, chronicles, short stories, essays, and poetry.
