Sylvie Rollet is a qualified professor of Film Studies at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University. She is co-responsible for “Theaters of Memory”, an inter-university research program (Paris 3 / Paris 1 / Paris 8) on cinema. Her research focuses on the relationship between cinema and the memory of the collective catastrophes of the 20th century. She is the author of Une éthique du respect: le cinéma face à la Catastrophe, d’ Alain Resnais à Rithy Panh (2011), “Voyage à Cythère”: la poétique de la mémoire d’ Angelopoulos (2003). She has also directed two collections of essays: Théâtres de la mémoire, mouvement des images (2010) and Angelopoulos au fil du temps (2007). She has published hundreds of articles dedicated, in particular, to the works of Hungarian, Russian, Caucasian and Balkan filmmakers.
