Tawni O'Dell (1964) was born and raised in Indiana, in the mining region of western Pennsylvania. He graduated in journalism at Northwestern University in Illinois and, after spending fourteen years in the Chicago area, returned to Pennsylvania, where she lives with her two children. She also wrote novels Coal Run (forthcoming in Siruela Editions), Sister Mine and Fragile Beasts.
