Wolf Haas was born in Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer, near Salzburg, in 1960. After studying Linguistics he spent two years as a reader at Swansea University in Wales. He then worked as a copywriter in Vienna. The Resurrection of the Dead is his first novel, which earned him the withering rise to the "First Division of German Language Police Genres" (Facts). Many of his novels have been awarded the German Police Novel Prize. He currently resides in Vienna.
