Yasmina Reza

Yasmina Reza

Yasmina Reza was born in Paris. Her father, born in Moscow, descended from a Jewish family expelled from Spain by the Inquisition and who took refuge in Uzbekistan, and her mother, a violinist, from a family of Hungarian Jews, met in Paris. She has received the most prestigious awards for her theatrical works (such as the Molière, the Laurence Olivier, the Theater Houte and the Tony), among which Arte, published in this collection, stands out. From her narrative work we have edited Una desolación: «There are rarely so many reasons to recommend a novel as in this case» (María Bengoa, El Correo); Hammerklavier: «A collection of stories – autobiographical in nature – beautifully disturbing. An exquisite delicacy worthy of demanding palates" (Lola Beccaria, ABC); In Schopenhauer's sleigh: "An excellent compact book, which can be read in one sitting, and which, despite its amusing criticism of the effort to offer meaning to life, transmits us a moving melancholy" (Jacinta Cremades, El Cultural); Happy the happy: "Action and thought, nerve and sense of humor, it is brief, but it lets you see a very wide world, almost unfathomable... Pray It is lucid, funny and cruel, but above all humanist» (Carlos Zanón, El País) and Babilonia: «Halfway between a Coen plot and Woody Allen's best script, it gives us a fun, tender, “polar”, profound and pathetic about the life of ordinary mortals” (Ángeles López, La Razón). She also chronicles The Dawn, the Afternoon or the Night: «You have a masterpiece at your fingertips. This is an absolute rarity and you should take advantage of the opportunity” (Arcadi Espada, El Mundo).
