Taxation and public policy models structure a large part of daily life and mentalities. The tax system under which we currently find ourselves encourages inequality between women and men and continues to perpetuate the idea that women have more responsibility for care work. In other words, it encourages and sustains the Sexual Division of Labor.
The current political moment, in which institutional intervention intersects with the new wave of feminism (third or fourth according to traditions), is an ideal time to work, think, discuss and intervene on the fiscal and economic structure. In this book, María Pazos Morán analyzes the capitalist and patriarchal structure that sustains the current regime and breaks down the public policies that perpetuate the Sexual Division of Labor. The look is completed with the observation of fiscal models that have had the will to promote equality between men and women.
The work horizon that the author proposes is a society without DST and the challenge, in addition, is to work from an anti-capitalist perspective. Questions, horizons and intermediate paths are possible ways to advance social transformation and the search for more emancipatory horizons.
