Yelizta Ruíz, a poet from Guerrero, won the XVII Ignacio Manuel Altamirano National Poetry Prize 2022 for her work "Variación de la Escama." Regarding her award-winning work, Yelitza Ruíz defines Variación de la escama as a collection of poems where the sea is seen from a woman's perspective, where it speaks of the lineage of water in women and the myth of mermaids. The young 35-year-old lawyer also studied a Master's degree in Art and Literature Studies. She has published works such as Abril en Casa (Mirando la cuesta, 2011), Cartografía del tren (BUAP, 2018), Hilo negro.
