The Place of Appearance brings together ten stories that synthesize the twists and turns of the aesthetic project Federico Ferroggiaro has developed since his first publications, compiled in The Painter of Delirios (2009), to Vanishing Point (2019).
In his stories, Ferroggiaro moves across the boundaries of realism, recreating urban spaces and rural environments with equal precision. The unsettling atmospheres he creates frame conflicts in which the characters struggle between misfortune, misery, and human greatness. Likewise, Ferroggiaro's narrators are forceful, seducing the reader, surprising them, and unraveling them.
In all the stories, whether a brinkmanship, a romantic obsession, a postponed fatherhood, or the search for literary recognition, the tension between the silenced truth and the place of appearance prevails.
