In Search of the Black Viking is a journey to the Viking Age to discover the true story of a powerful Viking whose life no one knew until now.
This story begins in Rogaland (Norway) in the year 846 AD, with the birth of Geirmundur Blackskin. But we know almost nothing about him, there is no saga about him, and posterity has done its best to forget him. Geirmundur Blackskin becomes the Black Viking, the most powerful settler in Iceland throughout time. Dark-skinned and with Mongolian facial features, he was a pioneer in the international hunting economy. Blackskin had hundreds of slaves; Christians from Scotland and Ireland. Eleven hundred years later, a distant relative of Geirmundur, the author Bergsveinn Birgisson, addresses the question of the life of Geirmundur Blackskin and why he has been forgotten.
