A few years ago it was very difficult to study the history of Russian philosophy in an objective way: there were many setbacks due to censorship and bureaucratic prohibitions. Many thinkers of earlier times were silenced and their works destroyed or stored in closed funds inaccessible to readers. The situation was absurd: how could German philosophy today exist, if references to the works of Kant or Hegel had been prohibited? What would French philosophy be today if the names DE Descartes or Rousseau had been ejected from his memory? This historic outrage seems incredible! And yet, so was the spiritual situation in the Soviet Union before Perestroika: the works of great thinkers such as Soloviev, Fyodorov, Shestov, Berdiaev, Bulgakov, Leontiev, Danilevsky, Frank, Florensky, Karsavin, Lossky, Trubetskoy, Rozanov were practically unknown.
During the last fifteen years the situation changed radically: the "dungeons" of the special funds of the archives and libraries were opened, many new editions of the classics of national thought appeared, each year the number of investigations devoted to Russian philosophy increases. However, the Latin American reader, "fed" for many years by the history of Marxist philosophy coming from the former Soviet Union through the publishing house "Progreso", is still unfamiliar with the new studies being carried out in Russia from today. The task of this book is to contribute modestly to filling the persistent gaps in this area. In this collection of essays, themes such as the search for the meaning of history, the formation of ethnic groups, the problems of national identity, the fate of the Russian intelligentsia and their exile from the country after the victory of the Bolsheviks in the October revolution stand out. , as well as the critique of utopianism.
