Misalignment aesthetics. Chilean Cinema 2010-2020 compiles essays that address the state of Chilean cinema in a period of profound transformations and twists, in light of the cinema produced in the previous decade known as "newest Chilean cinema". Many of the films made in the last decade are inscribed in the contingencies and collective urgencies, in the overflows, emptying and trusts of the current political moment. Without neglecting the contradictions between the project of a creative export industry and the search to represent the country's social climate at the time of the "awakening of society", the essays in this book show a cinema in the process of expanding and transformation, an opening of lines of work and ways of circulation, always in the friction produced between the dimension of its aesthetic artefactuality and the understanding of the social present.
