Sources of Christianity addresses the figure of Jesus of Nazareth through the writings that have come down from him: canonical, apocryphal and Gnostic gospels. Through the debate between diverse expert voices, we explore the multiple information and documents that lead to the development of the events that shaped these texts, true pillars of Christianity. It is difficult to find a more influential figure in the field of Western civilization than Jesus of Nazareth, although we still do not know much more about him than most people think. Everything that we know has been transmitted to us through the Gospels and, although they are venerable writings, they are loaded with historical problems: How were their origins? What were the stages they formed for? Are they self-contained writings or are they based on previous sources? Oriented exclusively to historical research, this book develops a plural debate in which contributions are gathered from both members of different religious orders and laity, all driven by a single common interest: deciphering and clarifying the many questions and problems that the gospels, so many times edited and reinterpreted, pose to us.
