With this little book Herder Editorial want paid tribute to Karl Rahner (1904-1984) on the centenary of his birth and to revise certain aspects of his legacy have left deep traces in the twentieth century theological thought._x000D_
The articles gathered here highlights his scholarship and his critical spirit, their willingness to dialogue delivery and his enormous capacity for work, all qualities that were evident in their decisive role in the Second Vatican Council, one of the most meaningful moments in its path. The article by Cardinal Karl Lehmann Rahner analyzes the significance of the Church and the fundamental characteristics of spiritual theology, systematic and policy. Günther Wassilowsky contribution focuses on Rahner's ecclesiology and, in particular, in his theology of the Church as universal sacrament of salvation. Jon Sobrino SJ considers the impact of Rahner's thought on liberation theology in Latin America and Philip Endean SJ reflects on the reception of his thought, especially from the perspective of English-speaking countries. _x000D_
The book also includes the text "The Council, new beginning," written by Rahner himself about the closing of Vatican II, expressing his conviction that the council was only the preparation of true and decisive beginning for the Church, of knowing into reality and practice the spirit and letter of the conciliar discussions.
