Alchemy in Al-Andalus and its influence on art and science was a chapter in history that was yet to be written.

From the arrival of Abderrahmán I, the Immigrant, to Al-Andalus in 756, until the fall of the caliphate in 1030, and some time after the Almoravids and Almohads, the Andalusians became exceptional witnesses of an art that would not be introduced in Europe until the 12th century. In the years of Islamic splendour, Al-Andalus became the brightest beacon in all branches of science and the arts, right on the doorstep of Europe. Great alchemy scholars brought knowledge from the East, which Islam took up as a torch when the Roman Empire fell. Its greatest apogee came with Abderrahmán III, who established the great tree of wisdom under which the three religions coexisted and turned Córdoba into the capital of knowledge.
This work focuses on the influence of Al-Andalus and Islam on alchemy through almost one hundred thinkers and spagyrists such as Averroes, Ibn Masarra, Ibn al-Jatib, Ibn Arabí al-Mursi or Al-Zahrawi, as well as making a precise journey from the myth of its origin, the identities of Hermes Trimegistus, the great Greek philosophers, the school of Alexandria to alchemy in Christian Europe.
