"Antonio Machado is a timeless poet, a classical poet. When we read it, it seems that his poems were always fresh from the oven. Always be prepared to be revived today with the news always. But nothing is coincidence in the poetry of Machado. He knows what he does and why he does it. What primarily for the young Machado was only a practical activity-poetic creation becomes maturity in occasion of speculative activity. And he devoted many hours of his life to the study of philosophy, of the great thinkers of history, in some of which he found illuminating explanations of his poetic activity. Antonio Machado should not be nor can separate the thinker poet. In this book we wanted to give the reader a synthesis of Machadian thought we call "poetic philosophy" because, for Antonio Machado, philosophy is poetic or not. "
