"Nature" is one of the most original scientific poems of the ancient world for its rational and empirical character. Certain inequalities in composition due to the obligatory sometimes arid didactic exposition are compensated by the poetic charm of many passages, such as Epicurus' praise, and the numerous descriptions, similes and images where the author evidences inspiration, sincerity and communicative strength. For many it is the most original and vigorous work of Latin poetry.
