The book of Proverbs of the Old Testament is mainly composed of several collections of maxims and sentences compiled by various characters of Hebrew antiquity, a good part being attributed to King Solomon. Some indicate what has to be done, others, on the other hand, what should not be done. And thus justice, prudence in speech, charity and the search for Wisdom are recommended, as well as violence, anger, anger, infidelity, reckless trust, fraud in weights and measures and lie, among other vileities. Thus, of the doctrine preached in this book it is frequent to find a faithful reflection in not a few of the sayings that we use today in our modern languages.
