A selection of articles from the book What are the Agricultural Leagues, originally published in 1973, and a set of testimonies on contemporary peasant movements are brought together in this volume. There is, however, no attempt to establish continuities as part of a predetermined historical evolution. Rather, the inclusion of both texts allows the consideration of the deep ruptures that occurred between those times and our present.
The dynamics of current capitalism increasingly tends to exploit the most diverse forms of social existence. If there is a novelty in this field, it is precisely this new capacity to extend its law -of value- towards broader and deeper vital dimensions.
