The work of Luís Vaz de Camões is complicated in origin and has not enjoyed editions that match his consideration of the great classic of Portuguese literature. The BLU now offers a select work in a bilingual edition that can be considered the most ambitious and comprehensive attempt to offer the work of the Portuguese classic. Included in this volume is the best version so far made in Spanish of his great and universal epic poem The Lusiads; an anthology of his lyrical poetry, with all the complexities of its authorship and definitive textual fixation; the selection of one of his few plays, the Auto de Filodemo; and the selection of three of his five known literary letters. All of them accompanied by the excellent introduction by Helder Macedo, and the critical apparatus customary in BLU books (prologues, annotations, bibliography, chronology, etc.) impeccably carried out by Professor Elena Losada Soler.
