Franz Keim, (December 8, 1840, Stadl-Paura, Austria, June 27, 1918, Brunn am Gebirge, Austria) began studying at the University of Vienna in 1860. Since his parents could no longer support him financially, he had to drop out of college early. He started various jobs. So he was with the Navy in Trieste. He also worked as a tutor, just like at the Südbahngesellschaft. During this time his literary work began and his drama Sulamith was created, which was also performed at the Vienna City Theater and the Burgtheater. This success allowed him to continue his studies and finally complete it in 1874.

After completing his studies, he worked as a high school teacher at St. Pölten until 1898. There he met Rilke. From 1902 he lived in Vienna-Döbling until 1913. From there he moved to Brunn am Gebirge in house number 12 of the Art Nouveau houses on the street that bears his name, where he also died. He is buried in the cemetery in an honorary grave in the city of Mödling
