This book is a first exercise between seven Latin American researchers with a career of more than a decade in studies on Asia and Africa. The authors share experiences, research strategies, knowledge, resistance and struggles in diverse situations, where gender, race, class and other identity variables intertwine. Each one chose a period, experience(s), and character(s) to elaborate a poetics of the encounter with “otherness” from the margins, understood as a complex process.
These are introspective texts that build a memory of their trajectories and, in turn, are part of what could be considered a genealogy of Southern studies about the South in terms of women.
