Pierre Boulez is undoubtedly one of the most important representatives of contemporary music. As a composer he opened a new stage in the history of music with Le marteau sans maétre. As conductor, he is an exceptional performer of many masterpieces of symphonic and lyrical music (Wagner, Debussy, Mahler, Stravinsky, Berg, among many others). As an educator, Boulez teaches in his chair of musical analysis and composition at the Collége de France. He is also engaged in research and directs the IRCAM (Institute of Research and Acoustic Coordination of France).
