The text that you have in your hands is the result of the collaborative work of a commission of academics from different higher education institutions in Chile, who, from their respective disciplines, have dedicated themselves to training Catholic Religion teachers. It should be noted that this text, the result of the aforementioned project, is something unusual in the area, which, compared to other sectors of school learning, has lacked a similar level and breadth of scientific inquiry. Along with the above, it should be noted that, beyond the value of each of the investigations, global consideration, this text is a relevant sign, since working in a network, collaboratively, when faced with complex subjects or objects of study, today is not only reasonable but peremptory. Other fruits of this Commission are to be expected, as well as it would be desirable that other institutions, managers and experts in the area emulate this attitude. We are in a delicate time for Chile, in which our capacity to solve old and new problems democratically is being put to the test. This context, in addition to secularism and lack of confidence in the Catholic Church, challenges all of us who work in the different sectors of religious education to seek and give meaningful answers to facts that are at first sight random or solely sociopolitical in nature. This requirement, in the particular school context, is transferred to the teachers of the Religion subject and to the Catholic Religion proposal. I hope that the reading of this work stimulates and generates new teaching practices, which in the coming years will be considered very relevant.
