Cultural industries are the perfect example of how gender equality has not been achieved today. There are too many gaps in our social horizon and we have to analyze the circumstances and multicultural contexts that Mexico is experiencing. It is essential to study and analyze how these gaps impact in cultural terms, in order to develop an appropriate public policy with our context.

Gender representations in the audiovisual industry presents three levels of research to pay for and act from different fronts: a qualitative investigation of gender representations in the Mexican film industry, interviews with activists, public officials and representatives of NGOs that have implemented successful projects that have helped accelerate cultural change and finally academic articles that reflect, historically and philosophically, from the cinematographic language the problem of gender representations.
