Have you ever stopped to think why girls are given dolls to play with and boys are not? And why are babies dressed in pink if they are girls and blue if they are boys? What would happen if we did the opposite? Simone de Beauvoir dedicated her entire life to reflecting and writing about the differences between women and men and she came to the conclusion that they make no sense. Although many were convinced that women were less smart, weaker and more afraid than men, and that therefore they were not capable of doing the same things as men, these differences do not actually exist. Simone de Beauvoir was considered one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century for having defended equality between men and women.
