Fals Borda advanced a theoretical work and a political action that extend and cover in a qualified way a good part of the Colombian national history, as is the second half of the twentieth century and the distressing beginnings of this twenty-first century, and that developed until the last moments of its existence, because, as a good coaster I felt thinking, above its physical deaths, was always its revolutionary vitality and its social commitment.
Being his work so vast, broad and multiform that it overflows the very possibilities of anthological reduction, he has chosen to select and gather some of his main writings to show readers the central elements of his life trajectory. Therefore, what is gathered in this book is a collection of texts that show, in some way, their theoretical-political itinerary, with the obvious limitations, difficulties and deficiencies of all selection. Here he will find the Fals Borda who wanted to rationalize the role that as an intellectual should unfold in the face of the current social order and who, beyond his national reality, understood the importance of looking at the whole of the Latin American problem, in terms of his unfinished revolutionary processes, which allowed him to face, in all its crudeness, the altruistic value of subversion. The man who, on many occasions, like the hicotea, had to be interned in reflection to be reborn and reappear feelingful in determined and energetic action.
