Boping Yuan has taught EFL at various universities in China and the China Central Television. He completed his postgraduate studies in Applied Linguistics at the University of Shanghai Jiao Tong, later obtaining his MA and Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh. Since 1999 he is professor at Cambridge University where he also directs the program of modern Chinese. He has written numerous articles in prestigious journals and co-authored books
