Joanna Moncrieff is Professor of Psychiatry at University College London (UCL) and is also engaged in clinical practice. She is founder and co-chair of Critical Psychiatry Network, a group of psychiatrists opposed the biologist model and the exercise of coercion on the patient. She is the author of The Myth of the Chemical Cure and many articles denouncing the negative influence of the pharmaceutical industry on psychiatry and criticizes the overuse of certain psychiatric drugs such as lithium, antidepressants and neuroleptics.
