Héctor Raúl Solís Gadea, He was born in Tepic, Nayarit in 1962. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, at the University of Guadalajara, where he obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Sociology. In 1997 he received an MA in Sociology from the New School for Social Research in New York with honors. In 2003 he obtained a Doctorate (Ph D) in Sociology from the New School for Social Research, with the thesis The Struggle for Municipal Autonomy in El dorado, México. From 1990 to the present, he has held various administrative positions within the University of Guadalajara, especially those related to humanities studies. Since April 2013 he has served as Rector of the University Center for Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Guadalajara
He currently teaches undergraduate courses in Sociology, and Political and Government Studies. He is a member of the National System of Researchers, Level I, in addition to having a Desirable Profile from the Faculty Improvement Program (PROMEP). His research and teaching subjects are social and political theory, democracy, modernity, political philosophy and the Mexican and Jalisco political system. He is also a columnist for the newspaper Milenio Jalisco.
