Criticism has relegated the literary value of Mary Shelley for many years, leaving her work and her talent in the shadow of that of her husband, Percy Bysshe Shelley, considered one of the great poets of English letters. The only title valued by critics has been Frankenstein, but with exceptions that have even questioned her authorship in favor of her spouse. Likewise, little attention has been paid to the rest of her production, which has led to Mary Shelley being excluded from the pantheon of great writers. However, Frankenstein's worldwide fame cannot be a fluke. Anne K. Mellor contributes with this biography to review and value the life, concerns and all the literary work of an amazing woman; a brilliant woman, whose position in universal letters must be deservedly claimed.
