This publication will introduce the reader to one of the most ambitious and controversial books written in recent years on the school system. For the reader who knows Bourdieu and Passeron through students and culture, reading Reproduction will be a surprise in more than one sense. It apparently constitutes a theoretical synthesis, which systematically articulates the results obtained in a series of empirical studies, developed over more than 10 years. These studies, the result of teamwork, have explored two complementary dimensions: the functioning of the school system and the attitudes of the different social classes in relation to culture.
