Andrei Dmitriev was born in 1956 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), although until 1969 he lived in Pskov. He later moved to Moscow, where he studied ancient Russian literature and cinema. In 1983, he began his writing career, alternating with writing screenplays. He has participated in numerous films and shorts and a regular contributor to newspapers, magazines, film, radio and television. His novels have been translated, among other languages​​, German, English and French.
