CARLOS MANUEL ÁLVAREZ was born in Matanzas, Cuba, in 1989. He studied journalism at the University of Havana. He founded the independent Cuban magazine El Esgnudo and its texts and columns of opinion have been published in some of the most important media of the world like The New York Times, BBC World, Aljazeera or Internazionale. His chronicles have appeared in magazines like Gatopardo and El Malpensante. In 2013 obtained in Prize Calendar in Cuba by his book of stories The afternoon of the definitive events. In 2017 he has been selected for the Bogotá list39 of the 39 best Latin American writers under 40 years of age.
