Aeschylus (Ancient Greek: Αισχύλος, Aisjílos) (.. Eleusis, 525 BC - Gela, 456 BC), Greek dramatist. Predecessor of Sophocles and Euripides, is considered the first great representative of the tragedy griega.1
He was born in Eleusis, Attica, place where the mysteries of Eleusis were celebrated. He belonged to a noble and wealthy family of landowners. In his youth he witnessed the end of tyranny in Athens Pisistrátidas.
