Emeritus Professor of Hebrew Language and Literature at the University of Barcelona. Introduced in the Bible that university course and Comparative Literature, who professed for ten years (1994-2005). He specializes in northwestern Semitic linguistics (hebrero and Ugaritic) and in comparative Semitic linguistics, fields in which he has contributed more than two hundred papers and half a dozen books. He promoted the foundation for twelve years and directed the Interuniversity Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the University of Barcelona. In 1993 he founded the magazine Aula Orientalis, of which he is director. For eight years (1998-1996) directed the Archaeological Mission of the University of Barcelona in Syria (Qara Quzaq I and II, 1993/2001).
