Jürgen Habermas (1929) is one of the greatest contemporary philosophers and sociologists known in the world. He was assistant of Theodor Adorno and Hans-Georg Gadamer. He is the most important representative of the second generation of the Frankfurt School, known for his work in social philosophy which continues to Critical Theory on a new basis. Professor at various universities such as Frankfurt, Princeton and Berkeley, in 2003 he was awarded the Prince of Asturias Prize for Social Sciences.
