Lilianna Lunguiná

Lilianna Lunguiná (Smolensk, 1920 – Moscow, 1998) was an important Russian translator of works in German, French, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish during the Soviet era. Among others, she translated: Astrid Lindgren, August Strindberg, Henrik Ibsen, Heinrich Böll, Boris Vian, Friedrich Schiller, Knut Hamsun and Romain Gary. Acclaimed director Oleg Dorman interviewed her for a documentary series based on her life that aired on Russian television in 2009; it soon became one of the most popular shows in the history of Russian television.
