Miklós Szentkuthy born in Budapest in 1908 and died in the same city in 1988, novelist and translator (Swift, Dickens and Joyce), wrote a massive and complex work which raises conflicts between art and life, or between suction to holiness and eroticism.
Szentkuthy for his boundless historical, philosophical and literary culture, is the most prominent and atypical representative of the Hungarian literature of the twentieth century. His works have been translated into English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian and Slovak. Among the numerous literary awards that were granted include the Baumgarten (1948) Award and the Kossuth Prize (1988).}
