Moriz Scheyer (1886-1949) was a highly significant figure in travel criticism, essay, and literature in the literary and cultural environment of pre-WWII Vienna. As cultural editor of the most important newspaper in the city, the Neues Wiener Tagblatt, and was a personal friend of Stefan Zweig and Bruno Walter. In life he published three books inspired by his travels in the Middle East and South America, as well as three volumes of historical-literary essays.
