He studied philosophy, literature and religion. He wrote his thesis on the aesthetics of Adorno, under the supervision of philosopher Jacob Taubes, and enable their work was on "The philosophical extremism between the two world wars." He was assistant Jacob Taubes. Between 1992 and 2002 led the Science Institute of Art and Design at the University of Essen. He teaches in the area of media sciences at the Institute of Language and Communication at the Technical University of Berlin. It is one of the philosophers of communication greater international recognition.
