This study and reflection examines dance as a contemporary ritual, focusing not on classical or folkloric forms, but rather on the dance that takes place in popular dance halls in the city of Puebla. Through a significant theoretical review, it becomes possible to understand the shift of ritual towards spaces that are not devotional, but rather everyday, and therefore ordinary and "profane." However, the presence and meaning of this ritual for those who "perform it" transforms the experience.
