We are living in a time of global political crisis, which has been producing its harmful effects on all of humanity for decades. Democracy, represented until today in the form of nation states, has experienced, according to Nicolás Sartorius, a "process of shrinkage": while capitalism expanded like the universe, following the economic and technological impulses of globalization, democracy was constrained to national borders, which thus limited its own capacities for action.
