"Exile and Memory" is a book that tells the stories of several liberal, emancipated, and intellectual Jewish families from Piedmont who journeyed from the ghetto to exile during the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. Their trajectories are marked by segregation, migration, and exile, where culture, art, scientific knowledge, and political activism gave meaning to their lives. The protagonists of this work went from living in small, segregated communities in the Piedmont region to modern Italian cities; later, they crossed the Atlantic and settled in the Americas. The book seeks to trace major historical events from the perspective of the families' daily lives, thereby recognizing their achievements, sharing their reflections, their utopian visions, and their ways of confronting challenges. The historical review is based on diverse research, oral narratives, archives, diaries, letters, autobiographies, and even novels. Exile is presented as a condition of exclusion that, at the same time, becomes a point of convergence that unites... to people. Memory is an operation of rescuing what happened, a narrative that integrates experiences into a discourse that vindicates the bonds of identity."
