Between Silver and Iron is a collection of essays and criticism that introduces us to Russian literature. That country, unknown to many, has always been portrayed in the imagination of Latin American readers as a nation of snow, cold, and solitude. However, when we delve into Russian culture and art, we realize there are too many similarities between the two regions. Alcohol, madness, and death are preoccupations described by Dostoevsky and Rulfo, Tolstoy and Bombal, Bulgakov and Bolaño. Russian literature is more than Raskolnikov, Anna Karenina, and the Brothers Karamazov; and the pages of this book are a window through which the reader can marvel at Slavic culture.
