For the Jewish tradition, the meaning of the Old Testament is inexhaustible: interpretation is free to fill in the blanks and margins with linguistic signs and to propose, from generation to generation, new readings. In opposition to every dogmatic vision, this permanent invention constitutes the very essence of Revelation. The multiple interpretations of the Bible seek above all to rediscover the original breath that animates the text, the still audible echoes of the infinite voice that speaks through it. There is something like an Eros that gives life to the text, a distant reflection of the divine word. However, since this word is intended for men, and since it aims to order their life on this earth, in the biblical text the original breath of divine Eros was incarnated in the discourse of the Law.
