At the end of 2018, a call on social networks set ten thousand Central Americans on their way to the United States in broad daylight and with the only strength of knowing they were strong because they were not alone. This attempt to travel in groups and in a visible way is a new strategy of the poor to survive — to escape the clutches of the mafias, to escape the repression of the States — and to put into practice the much vaunted freedom of movement in search of a better life.

Carlos Martínez, a journalist from the Salvadoran newspaper El Faro, accompanied them, and this book chronicles, day by day, the course of that human caravan that became a group to protect itself and try to make the desire for another life come true. This book contains the narration of the obstacles, the demobilization attempts, the problems, the solutions along the way —of the experience, in short—, of this event, which marks a new form of mobility for migrants.
