The figure of René Crevel is part of that vast sect of outcasts who swarmed beyond the surrealistic orthodoxy represented by André Breton. Perhaps surrealism, like all isms, has been slightly less than that: a communal drive that abrevara and disparate forthcoming in, in all directions, men who are the product of a history and that history comes. René Crevel was one of those restless spirits who sought wrote and committed suicide at age 35.
