The Spanish society has undergone structural changes of coexistence that previous generations did not know as a result of migration processes in the last quarter of the last century and early this. The numerical size of the foreign population in Spain is a fact supported by the statistical reality, but also by the way the media have echoed his presence.

As privileged witnesses and omnipresent sense of migration and its impact on the lives of citizens, the media have played a part in shaping a particular view on the phenomenon, making visible a type of foreign population which has been identified as an immigrant and has been presented and represented, from the narratives inherent in their production and technology-press, radio, television, cinema, with a profile that has penetrated deeply into public opinion. The relationship between media and migration has attracted intense scientific and political interest. This has meant the stakes of socio-anthropological, demographic, legal, economic glances,
political and cultural accurate.

The present work aims to bring something different to what done so far and invites to reconsider approaches and procedures on migration. It also invites us to rethink the ethical and professional commitments media to influence their information when dealing with foreign immigration. The heads of the chapters of the volume are researchers from different Spanish universities, from the plurality of research groups to which they belong and from the diversity of lines of work and theoretical and methodological approaches from which to develop their contributions, provide a very representative look at the status of research in this field in Spain.
