Vanya Bambirra is a Brazilian political scientist. Graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), master the University of Brasilia (UNB) and PhD in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), is best known in Spanish America than in Brazil itself, which has only two published books. Next to intellectuals, as Ruy Mauro Marini, Andre Gunder Frank and Theotonio dos Santos, formulated the theory of dependence, a critical interpretation, non-dogmatic Marxist, of underdevelopment reproduction processes in the periphery of capitalism.
